FABULOUS VINTAGE DRESSES FROM ZKAKA

Those of you who know me are already acquainted with my love for midi dresses and midi skirts. I think that they are the most feminine items a woman can wear and those with the retro design are by far the best choice. I’m always looking to find new places where I can buy midi dresses and mostly I find myself looking online, because, if I have to be sincere, in physical stores is almost impossible to find anything pretty.

Recently in my search for retro dresses, I’ve discovered an online store specialized in selling this type of clothes. One of my favorites is this beautiful vintage dress with vertical stripes in shades of pink and small flowers printed on them. I love the buttons on this dress because it adds so much femininity. Also, the way the waist is accentuated by a faux belt it’s fantastic. I think this dress would look amazing with a pair of nude sandals and can be worn to so many places, like a baptize, a lunch, at work and even during an evening event with the proper accessories.

Another fabulous piece is the yellow 1950s dress with white polka dots. It’s so bright and joyful this dress and it has such a big retro vibe that I absolutely adore it. I love the small spaghetti straps and the bow detail which is so sweet. And the best thing is that it comes in blue also if you think that yellow is too powerful for you! For me, it’s not, because I absolutely adore yellow.

I also love this amazing plaid dress in black and white checks. This is such a classy piece and also timeless because it will never go out of fashion. Plus, the checked print is very trendy at the moment. I would definitely wear it with a pair of high heeled stiletto shoes and with red lips.
Those are only a few of the wonderful dresses you can find at Zkaka. They have some amazing dresses at really affordable prices, so you should definitely check their site!

1920s Fashion: The Era of Revolution

1920s is characterized as a free-spirited and modernist era for the women.

Particularly Jazz age was all about women’s freedom and independence. An abrupt change in the clothing world arose with trends like looser-fitting and a relief from tight fitting corset was emerging. It was an era that tempted low-waisted, shorter and somewhat revealing dresses for the women along with bobbed hairstyles.

It was the era of 1920s when the long strands of pearl beads, headbands and feather bots were seen wore by women.

Jazz Age- Flamboyant Approach to Life

1920s fashion was inspired by the movie industry of that time. Women all over the globe started idolizing the famous actresses.

Similarly, the famous movie stars of Jazz age are the pioneers of fashion influencers. The exuberant celebrities started questioning the traditional style in a challenging way which led to the revolutions we see today. Women started wearing short skirts, make-up, flappers were introduced as they were considered as sophisticated.

It was thought to be a way for women to free themselves of the shackles of Edwardian generation. The young generation of 1920s were proud to show-off their jazz dancing legs. It was all about living care-free life by pursuing their dreams and hobbies to open the doors of new opportunities for themselves.

Women’s Dresses

The waistlines started to drop; hemlines came to life while women started avoid longer length trend. The younger generation of that time sometimes followed the women’s clothing but seldom they would become trend-setter instead of following the usual trend.

Before this revolutionary period, the sleeves were long and would cover almost the entire length of the arm, but slowly the wardrobe started changing for only party dresses to be sleeveless. The waistlines used to be till navel but then moved to the hip, with the addition of thin belts to accent the placement.

Dresses were filled with more row of buttons and vertical pleats.

However, the dresses wore at home were still filled in cheerful colors and beautiful cotton prints, gingham checks and vertical strips. An oversized pocket was a practical addition made to these in-house dresses.

1920s Outing Attire

Obviously,

the women did not spend their whole day inside the house.

And,

when it was time to deal with the outside world, it was their time to put on a show.

They said their goodbyes to the cotton prints, mid-heels with a skirt or a blouse over the top, was their walking suit. It was all about being stylish and at the same time being comfortable.

For the working women,

the 1920s outfit needed to be paired with their perfect go-to accessories. It didn’t necessarily mean that a set of bold jewelry or inflated hats was to be worn.

But,

Cloche hats or cotton hats with a very charming art deco on one side, would do justice to the overall attire.

1920s clothing was and still is, the pinnacle of fashion and if you want to get a taste of this exotic trend, let Zkaka do the job for you.
